FIREWEED AGAINST POVERTY
FIREWEED AGAINST POVERTY
The Lavender Project
The founder and trustee of Fireweed Dicle Sevim Sertkaya successfully arranged to have a field of Lavender planted organically in Turkey.
This was the first lavender field to be planted in a high altitude (5,600 ft), very cold, mountainous and deprived region in the east. The land had previously been left neglected.
Fireweed is now working to help local women to plant their own organic lavender fields. This project will help local women to be financially independent and also tackle poverty.
These are actual photos of volunteers tending the crop.
Pandemic Food Aid
A Big Thank You to all who contributed to our food aid campaign during Covid-19 to help vulnerable families in Turkey.
Every £20 you donated helped to feed a family of four for a month. Families received prepaid supermarket cards for their shopping.
We give thanks to our Fireweed ambassador and volunteers for their hard work. We will continue working hard to help disadvantaged, vulnerable women and children wherever they are.
