Fireweed is continuously raising awareness and understanding about the devastating impact of domestic abuse on victims and their families.

There were 1.2m domestic abuse crimes and incidents recorded by the police in England and Wales in the year to March 2018. There were 89,000 domestic abuse prosecution.

According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) year ending March 2019:

  • an estimated 7.5% of women (1.6 million) experienced domestic abuse in the last year.
  • women aged 20 to 24 years were more likely to be victims of any domestic abuse in the last year than women aged 25 years and over.
  • adults who were separated or divorced were more likely to have experienced domestic abuse compared with those who were married or civil partnered, cohabiting, single or widowed.
